New key access. Keep suitable hardware.
Rekeying changes the internal key arrangement of a compatible cylinder so that a different key operates it. It can be useful after a move, a lost key or a change in authorized key holders. It does not automatically replace the handle, latch or deadbolt.
What we consider before the work
We first consider the condition and compatibility of the locks. Damaged or unsupported hardware may need replacement, while sound compatible cylinders may be suitable for rekeying. Locks with different keyways cannot always be made to share one key.
Prepare for your call or visit
List every lock you want included and have working keys available where possible. Tell us about restricted keys and building master systems. Decide whether all old keys should stop working and which doors should share access.
Will rekeying fix a door that is hard to close?
Not necessarily. A fit or alignment issue can remain after the cylinder is rekeyed. Mention any binding or latching trouble before the work.
