Check keys after a property handover
A recently handed-over home may still have keys held by contractors or previous occupants. Westlake homeowners can begin by listing all exterior locks and deciding which existing keys should no longer work.
A useful detail before you book
Photograph the hardware and note any keypad or smart-lock model. Rekeying a mechanical cylinder and changing electronic access codes are separate tasks; both may be relevant to your access plan.
Does changing a keypad code retire a physical key?
No. A backup mechanical key can remain valid unless its cylinder is rekeyed or replaced.
